sharing the news

it’s been well received by most our friends and family.

i told my mom about it the other day and she was all for it and actually excited for us. i mean, she went outside to measure the side yard awning to see if our future home would fit. love her.

i’m pretty amazed by the amount of folks we know who have opened up their driveways, street and home lots to us. more recently, we were offered the use of a sewer trap that was installed at a friends house before she bought it, talk about thoughtful!

no turning back

as you may have read in terence’s earlier post, we put payment down for a 2018 serenity.

we find out more today if our road trip will be vegas to seattle or st. louis to seattle. of course, the preference would be vegas but with the way (as we are finding out) these things are ordered and built, time is of the essence and i’d be okay with either. the serenity that is in st. louis is built exactly to our specifications, the one in vegas was ordered without the trifold bed, which was a definite requirement, no exceptions. the dealer is checking today to confirm. exciting.

when terence first reached out to one of the leisure van dealers, he was given a quote of about 10 months to have one ordered and built, 10 months would be too long. we found a few used ones that had 1 or 2 items not on our required checklist, those were no-gos. so when the 2018 serenity popped up (original buyer backed out) we took it as a sign, and went for it.

Update on the RV

Internet is crazy like that. I had been reaching out to dealers via RVtrader.com. Some were motivated to communicate and try to sell.  Some no response, those folks probably don’t like making money.  A guy told me he didn’t have any but would have one at the beginning of January.  The build sheet on it checked all the boxes except for the trifold couch.  Almie shot this one down. Then searched continued. Friday night I saw a post on FBs Leisure Travel Van (LVT) selling group. A dealer, Nanci, posted they had one in St. Loius. It ticked all the boxes!  I messaged her via FB messenger. She got back to me Saturday morning but I could not talk. I went to Jason’s house to strip my cross bike and trade back the frame for a mtb frame.  Told her I would call her after. So I get done with bike stuff and I called.  We talk and all is well. She said if I want it I should let her know and we would need to put down a card. I talk to Almie and it ticks all the boxes, except cabinets are not dark wood.  We can live that.  So an RV is pretty much reserved.  They have a fly and buy program, they will reimburse me for a flight to pick it up. Show us how to use it and make us camp in it before we leave so we know how use it.  Now logistics planning to St Louis will begin after Monday when we make it official with the dealer.  Well maybe not, Nanci will check to see if the coach coming to Vegas has the trifold.  Usually when these get ordered they put in all the bells and whistles.  Turns out they both work for the same dealership, WagonTrailRV out of Vegas.

Almie is in San Diego for Thanksgiving and to meet her new nephew.  She told her mom about this RV living and she was totally down with it. She even went outside and started measuring to see if it would fit thru the backyard gate and awning thing.

24 days

that’s the numbers of days we have to get our house in order…the listing goes live then!

we went back and forth on renting vs. selling and the pros to sell, definitely, outweighed renting.

– we would be mortgage free

– rentals can sometimes be a headache (we had one years ago)

– market is hot

– we would beat the sellers rush come january

– selling would produce a nice return

– oh, did i mention we would be mortgage free?

we spent a couple hours with anjo foster, with home smart! talking through the process, dates and the terence-to-do list.

we decided to go live on 12/11. that’s 24 days to sell, store and donate our stuff.

it’s going to be crazy over the next couple months!

now we need to find one of these!

House stuff

Yesterday Almie had a 2nd round in the closet cleanup. I listed a few cycling wind-vests on eBay. I started a Poshmark account and listed a sneaker head book.

Showed Tara the serenity. She was digging it and was ok with going to visit a dealership this weekend. She actually texted it to her buddy to show what it was like.

Getting ready to cleanup/fix the house. Found these guys to fix up the carpet that the cat messed up. John’s Carpet repair, highly recommend them.
